Rob's Story
Ten years ago, my family and I were drawn to Aurora, captivated by its promise as an all-American city. Its rich diversity in thought and people was a beacon, and it quickly became our home. As a native of Colorado, I understood the challenges our state faced, and I was eager to make a difference. I found myself working on economic issues for Adams and Arapahoe Counties, serving on steering committees in Aurora to reduce crime and create economic mobility for those struggling to get back on their feet.
In 2018, I took a leap of faith and dedicated my life to solving the issues of housing, economic mobility, and public safety. I launched the first CommunityWorks site in Aurora on Colfax, a beacon of hope for some of Aurora's most vulnerable. Since then, we've served over 1,000 residents through coalition building, bringing together public and private stakeholders to solve some of the most challenging issues for Aurorans.
My journey wasn't always smooth. I grew up in humble beginnings in Colorado and faced a career-ending injury early in my life. But I fought back, and my heart led me to a path of service. I became a professional athlete, but my true calling was always in service, not on the field.
At CommunityWorks, I lead of over 70 dedicated employees, all committed to making a difference across Colorado. Our mission is clear: align businesses with people's needs and keep money in local economies. We worked tirelessly to create an impact through economic mobility, and our efforts paid off. We became a testament to the power of perseverance and the ability to rise above adversity.
Now, I am running for mayor because I believe in the potential of Aurora and its people. I see a city where every resident feels safe, where everyone has access to affordable housing, and where jobs are a priority for all. Reducing crime, fostering economic mobility, and creating access to affordable housing will require all of us to work together. There is no silver bullet to these challenges, but I am confident that the answers lie within the people of Aurora.
I am Rob Lee Andrews and I am ready to lead, to serve, and to create an Aurora for all.
